The Journey Home

Bye

We broke camp at 9 am and cycled for the ferry.  Jer and Mike, being without bikes, took the Victoria route home - the rest of us cyclists were going direct (via a transfer at Mayne Island) back to Vancouver.  The Pender Island ferry terminal has a great burger joint (a little slow - hence the no group picture), so we grabbed breakfast/lunch just before our trips to respective islands.

Waiting on Mayne

Once on Mayne we had an hour to wait for our next ferry.  The bike lane (behind the concrete retaining wall) was surprisingly full of bikes, many of them with camping gear - we weren't the only cycle campers this long weekend.  Sitting out in the sun with our oily hair and smelly clothes wasn't much fun, but we got over it.  The ferry was late, but I think we were all happy to get back to the mainland (home!) and a hot shower - after another 30 km of biking!
